Home based literacy learning and vocational training project
Under the support of FEED THE MINDS (UK)
The activity aims at promoting female literacy integrated with knowledge of civic rights, health issues and peacebuilding, and to empower women to earn their own income by teaching home based literacy facilitation skills , Increasing the literacy skills among rural women, girls and other members of the community and increasing household income levels rural women/girls through cooperative based soap making.
Over the year 2015 several activities have been carried out on the scope of this program. These include:

Training of 30 literacy facilitators

Production and distribution of 330 materials of << Tuongee na washiriki>> , << storytelling: A tool for promoting peace and literacy>>

Running 30 HBLCs ( Home based literacy classes) that reached 210 women and Gils) who performed well in reading, writing and numeracy)

Creation of soap making cooperatives which is integrated alongside the home based literacy classes, allowing for much needed income at the household level in a sustainable fashion; Each cooperative become self-sufficient
Th same project is continuing with its second phase fro April 2016 with the siilar activities
